Preventing people from dying of starvation is a humanitarian act. One must do so. Greatly. Developing irrigation systems for the world, being partners in eradicating pandemics – this is a humanitarian act. One must do so. Greatly.
To provide food to an enemy that grants them the ability to fight us and to people who do not muster the courage to act against these harbingers of disaster – is not a humanitarian act!!! When the reporting is that two thirds of the food reaches Hamas – it is not a humanitarian act. When we lose tremendous pressure that can be used to achieve victory in war – it is not a humanitarian act.
The government is permitted to weigh other factors for bringing trucks into Gaza: the status of the hostages and their return. Providing munitions to soldiers. International pressure. The courts at Hague. And many more. This is its role. This is its responsibility. Anyone who is not exposed to the impact of all of these things should be made aware. But this should not be presented as a moral and humanitarian act. It is certainly not!
