Behavior Towards a Waitress in a Restaurant

Question:

Hello Honorable Rabbi, How should I conduct myself when I order from a waitress in a restaurant? Should I not look at her in the face and, for example, look at the table and speak? Or is this not respectful? What is the proper way to order? Thank you very much.

Answer:

Hello,

Act in the normal manner for the society we are in.

Any other behavior will first and foremost hurt her feelings, but more importantly – it is harmful to the concept of modesty to approach speaking to women as an issue of modesty.

All the best,
